I have an almost full bottle of this from about 2006. Only tested it once, briefly, when I first got it and then left it safely in its box, until now. I did this because; a) I had other perfumes I preferred at the time (half-decent perfumes weren't so hard to find as they are now...), b) I tend to not really like the sharpness of brand new perfumes (I prefer them when they have been left to settle down, a bit) and c) as I got it from eBay, at that more unregulated time, I was always paranoid it might be a fake. I had visions of it having been made from a vat of various, suspicious and possibly harmful, chemicals and/or (heaven forfend!) bodily fluids! >< Actually, though, having closely inspected the bottle and box, I think it's almost certainly genuine. Everything looks right and it has professional-looking engraving on the bottom of the bottle, the reassuring roughness of which you can feel if you run your thumbnail over it. The engraving says this one was "Made in France", by the way. Having tested the fragrance again, today, it's really very nice - most of the time, anyway. Warm and very spicy, originally, it then (fairly quickly) becomes more about the rose and vanilla. Which is lovely. :) Unfortunately, it then, gradually, becomes more soapy-smelling, on me - which I'm slightly less fond of - but not really objectionably so. Then, again, quite quickly, it becomes more cinnamon - even though cinnamon isn't listed in the ingredients. Maybe it's the cloves combined with something else? Anyway, I prefer this stage to the pure-soap stage. Now, a few minutes later, it's become more gently sweet and (non-rose) flowery, with a touch of vanilla. This is a particularly lovely stage, in my opinion. ...and now, a few minutes (or maybe half an hour?) later, for the first time, the orange blossom becomes very noticeable. Almost dominant, in fact. Which is, again, lovely. I'm still only about two and a half hours in, at this point. There will, no doubt, be even more stages, before it's gone. It really is a "journey", on me, this one - never a dull moment! This is another one-spray-is-enough fragrance, in my opinion. Which is more than fine by me. As I don't really want to have to cover myself head-to-toe in perfume and it means I can just spray it on my inner arm, just above my wrist (so, it doesn't get washed off by handwashing), rub it against the other arm and leave it at that. Boyfriend doesn't like it as much as Giorgio - he says it smells more "chemically". He was asked for his verdict at the more soapy stage, though, so that may be why. Plus, he just really loves Giorgio - as most men seem to (on people it's compatible with, anyway). All in all, a solid 8.5, for me, so far - really only brought down a point by the (relatively brief) "soapy"/"chemically" stage. If that could be removed, somehow, it would be a 9.5, or even a 10. Once again, it's a great shame that the reformulation (from what people say, anyway) isn't as good. Getting rid of carcinogens from perfumes was always a very good idea; but, getting rid of oils, many of which cause barely any sensitivity problems, at all, is quite another. ...and I say that as someone with quite a few allergies. Quite honestly, it would have been better to request that people use only one small spray of strong perfumes, than to change and/or neuter them all, entirely. I think most people would have got behind that idea. As, even as someone who likes (often strong) vintage perfumes, I've never liked it if people bathe in them. I can't help feeling that the drive to ban/limit some of the more harmless oils was based on an adversion to the overuse of perfumes some people (including, no doubt, some scientists, doctors and politicians!),understandably, have. Rather than due to any, genuine, health problems they may cause. May102017 www.fragrantica.com This is my absolute favorite in my collection. I first fell in love with Coco Mademoiselle EDP as a 19 year old model in London. After a shoot, the photographer took me on a shopping spree, and I blindly selected this perfume in Harrrods. I remember it being so joyful with the citrus notes but also luxurious with the rose jasmine and lychee all combined to make it the one all my friends asked to borrow and stared at with envy! Fast forward 4 years...my fiancee picked up on my hints and for my 23rd birthday he gifted me a 15 ML of Coco Mademoiselle pure parfum. At first I was nervous...I had never experienced pure parfum before, and was worried that the tiny bottle would not last me long. In fact, I even posted on Fragnoticas forums asking if I should exchange for the larger EDP. It is thanks to all the amazing members of this site that I did not, and I am so grateful I didn't return this masterpiece! Coco Mademoiselle is without a doubt my most prized parfum, and proof that sometimes the best things in life really do come in the smallest packages. Now I only fear I am spoiled by this luxury, now that I know how amazing pure parfum can be, I will definitely save up or wish for other parfums in future! Yes, Coco Mademoiselle is that good, it has me converted! Now, onto the review... The miniature bottle with the black rose seal looked so beautiful, It felt almost sacrilegious to break that seal! But I did. Seeing as this was my first encounter with pure Parfum (of any kind) I was careful, dapping a small drop on my left and right wrists. The patchouli perhaps came off a bit too strongly at first application, and for a moment I was worried. But fear not, soon the top notes calmed down to reveal a beautiful rose. Like that perfect rose in beauty and the beast, in full bloom on my wrists. Litchi, Jasmine, and Bergamot came into the fold in a lovely symphony with the musk. While the EDP I remember came off strongly on the citrusy notes at first before drying down to a beautiful rosey floral, this is the opposite. After a couple of hours I do notice the orange and grapefruit coming through, but after the initial blast of patchouli it develops in the opposite way to the EDP: Patchouli, Roses, Citrus, instead of the other way round. Vanilla blends the fragrance into perfect harmony. While I have always loved the act of spraying my EDP's for a fun night out or mood/occasion, there is something very sensual about applying a precious drop of pure parfum to your pulse points. Whereas the Coco Mademoiselle EDP of my memories perfectly represented me at the time...young, free spirited model and writer but with class, the pure parfum is more of the woman I grew into...still writing (more often) and modelling (occasionally) but also with an amazing fiancee, dreaming of our wedding. I am actually really happy now my fiancee gifted me the pure parfum instead of the EDP. While silliage and longevity are similar in both, pure parfum is a more devolved, richer, and creamier version of its EDP counter part. It may be only 15ML but sometimes the best things come in small packages. Or as Sofreshandsoclean wrote in their review:“My reason for choosing diamonds is that, dense as they are, they represent the greatest worth in the smallest volume.”― Coco ChanelI would say:“My reason for choosing Coco Mademoiselle pure parfum is that, dense as it is, it represent the greatest worth in the smallest volume.”-Sofreshandsoclean I would agree!! :D I am so happy that I received this beautiful parfum for my birthday. I will try and make my tiny bottle last, and probably only wear for special occasions. (Due in part yes to the cost of this parfum but also because this really is a scent that warrants special occasion status. I would still like to try the EDP for more regular wear, but if it really has been reformulated (WHY CHANEL? WHY?!?) it would be a real shame. Really wish there was a department store near me to test (one of the things I did love about america which aren't as common in England where I am now.) Perhaps I will try the EDP in a future swap, or purchase a small bottle when I have the finances for it online. We will see. But for now I simply adore my pure parfum mademoiselle. 10/10 for me Sep162014 www.fragrantica.com First of all, I just want to say that I registered here in Fragrantica just to review this perfume. I would not bore you with descriptions of the base and middle notes of this scent. I know there are a lot who had done that already. Besides, I just got a “basic nose” that just senses “basic notes” too. So if you’re looking for professional opinion, skip my review. If you’re just an ordinary lady like me, who wants to know an ordinary opinion too, then read on. So…. I got this perfume just now. YEP. TODAY. My sister who’s living in the USA just sent me this one (well, I asked her to. I was just a mere visitor of this site before, when I asked her to but this for me. Heh.). I was just so excited and afraid to open the box. Excited – I really want to know the scent since I’m just relying on all of your descriptions here. Afraid – that I might get disappointed. So what happened first was a disaster. Hah. My nephew got an Acqua di Gio. I love the smell of Acqua di Gio (to anyone who reads this that dislikes it, don’t judge please). Well anyway, I opened his box first and spritzed some on my wrists so I can get a whiff of it. So when I was about to test my Coco Mademoiselle on my wrist, I literally face-palmed. Since I just sprayed ADG on both wrists, I sprayed it on the back of my palm. Hah. Yep, I know. Totally wrong. First impression for this perfume? Simple but chic bottle. But BLAH smell. BLAH. BLAH. BLECH. All I could smell on the air was lemons. Yes, lemons. Not oranges as what others described here. And yes, it smells old-ish. I was furious. Very very furious. Why do others consider this a great perfume? I literally want to throw it away. I was that disappointed. So I went on my day, blah blah. After several hours and after showering, I decided to try it again. I sprayed it on my pulse points (just a tiny bit). And that’s when it slapped me in the face and proved to me that first impressions do not last all the time. At first whiff, yes the smell is really citric. I’m still sticking with my thoughts that those are lemons that I’m smelling. But after a few minutes, it settled onto something. And I was just blown away. I am not really the type of lady who loves this kind of perfumes. I was more of an EDT gal. I want something light and fresh. I was actually thinking of getting the Chance Eau de Tendre, but I thought to try Coco Mademoiselle instead. And I’m glad I did. After an hour, it settled again onto something quite masculine – my favorite part. Okay, some of you might think that it would smell manly. But it is not. The scent is so light and I think you could call it musky but floral at the same time. That would sound absurd, yes. But believe me, the combination works perfectly. JUST SO GORGEOUS. Also, whenever wind hits me, I could smell some other notes I could not decipher. For me, the combination is so unique! (and I’m so glad that here in our country, this fragrance is not a normalcy. HAH.) After a few more hours, the lasting scent is now vanilla. I am not a big fan of vanilla scents. But this one is just.... UGH. sweet. Sweet in a very good way. Yes, this perfume makes me fall in love with it more as hours pass. Longevity: I can still smell it on me (it's now 6 hours since I put it on)Sillage: Superb (my boyfriend visited me today and upon entering my room, he was like “What’s that smell? It’s so fragrant.” Yes, it fills my room. ;) Final thoughts: I’m a 26-year old professional and I believe this would suit me so I decided to ask my sister to get this for me (I paid her, okay! I’m just living in Asia, so I want to get the perfume straight from the USA since I’m afraid I’d get a fake one here. Heh.) I loved fruity scents before, but I want to transition into something more mature now. And I’m so glad Coco Mademoiselle is what I chose.
